::I visited her last week when my usual GP was on holiday. Unfortunately, I forgot the PIN-code of my card - a card I have not used for months - when trying to pay. I did not have another card by to pay with but I was not worried as I normally pay by bank transfer at my GP, so I just asked for an invoice. She made a huge fuss about issuing an invoice for me, including suggesting that I pretended (???) to forget my PIN, telling me that it is not normal to pay by bank transfer by a GP (???) and that it is a matter of respect that clients consider how they would pay in advance. Regarding this last remark, I can only agree: as long as clients are advised in advance that there are limitations in this respect. But first of all, I have never had any problems using an alternative payment method at any service provider before. Secondly, she did not tell me at the time of making an appointment that paying by invoice is not possible. More than that, had she billed me the regular amount for the examination, I could have paid in cash. But in fact, it was almost the double of that amount labelled as a 'major examination fee'. (How right is this, regarding that she is not my regular GP, but also that this was not my first visit at her and the examination did not include anything more than the usual check-up at my GP – I don't know. But it shows that I wasn't completely unprepared as she suggested.) In addition, she was telling all the above reproaches to me in French, while we had been talking in English before, making it clear that even if I understand French, I am not at a level where I could comfortably express or defend myself in that language. All in all, she made me feel the most uncomfortable I have ever felt at a medical visit during my 7 years in Luxembourg.
